NODC Accession 0000180 includes chemical, discrete sample, physical and profile data collected from MILLER FREEMAN in the North Pacific Ocean and South Pacific Ocean from 1979-04-01 to 1982-06-30 and retrieved during cruise NOAA Dynamic Cruises and NORPAX. These data include ALKALINITY, Calcium, DISSOLVED INORGANIC CARBON, SALINITY, WATER TEMPERATURE and pH. The instruments used to collect these data include CTD, bottle and pH meter. These data were collected by Chen-Tung A. Chen of Oregon State University; College of Oceanic and Atmospheric Sciences as part of the Carbonate Chemistry of the North Pacific, NDP-029 data set.

NODC accession 0117409 includes biological, chemical, optical and physical data collected aboard the THOMAS G. THOMPSON during cruise TN263 in the Coastal Waters of SE Alaska, Gulf of Alaska and North Pacific Ocean from 2011-04-30 to 2011-05-21. These data include Attenuation/Transmission, CONDUCTIVITY, DEPTH - BOTTOM, DEPTH - OBSERVATION, DISSOLVED OXYGEN, FLUORESCENCE, HYDROSTATIC PRESSURE, SALINITY and WATER TEMPERATURE. The instruments used to collect these data include CTD, echo sounder, fluorometer, oxygen meter and transmissometer. These data were collected by Nancy Kachel of US DOC; NOAA; OAR; Pacific Marine Environmental Laboratory, and by University of Washington as part of Ecosystem and Fisheries-Oceanography Coordinated Investigations (Eco-FOCI). The Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory (LDEO) submitted these data to NODC as part of the NSF sponsored Rolling Deck to Repository (R2R) program. The CTD data submitted by the originator represent the raw data suite. Processed versions of the data were generated by NODC.

This data set contains sensitive biological resource data for seals, whales, and porpoises for Long Island, New York. Vector polygons in this data set represent marine mammal distribution, haul-out sites, and concentration areas. Species-specific abundance, seasonality, status, life history, and source information are stored in relational data tables (described below) designed to be used in conjunction with this spatial data layer.This data set comprises a portion of the Environmental Sensitivity Index (ESI) data for Long Island. ESI data characterize the marine and coastal environments and wildlife by their sensitivity to spilled oil. The ESI data include information for three main components: shoreline habitats, sensitive biological resources, and human-use resources.

The U.S. National Oceanographic Data Center (NODC) operates the Global Argo Data Repository (GADR) as the long-term archive for the International Global Argo Project (for additional information about Argo, see http://www.argo.ucsd.edu/ (last accessed December 2005)). Argo data archived by the US NODC on a weekly basis starting the second quarter of FY 2003, may include real-time and/or delayed-mode profiles of ocean temperature and salinity, as well as related conductivity and/or pressure measurements (if any), collected by Argo profiling floats.

Data from Coral Reef Ecosystem Division (CRED), NOAA Pacific Islands Fisheries Science Center (PIFSC) Subsurface Temperature Recorders (STR) provide a time series of water temperature at coral reef sites. Data is typically collected at 1800 second intervals for a duration of 2 years using a SBE39 Temperature Recorder (Sea-Bird Electronics, Inc., www.seabird.com). When a STR is recovered, a new one is typically deployed in the same place. Time series data combining multiple deployments from a given site may also be available. Reson 8101ER multibeam Data were collected in February 11 - March 14, 2010 aboard NOAA Ship Oscar Elton Sette in the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands and Guam on cruise SE1002. These multibeam data were collected using SAIC ISS-2000 v 4.0.0.3.0 software in the Generic Sensor Format and processed using SABER editing software. Sound velocity corrections from a Seabird SBE19 CTD sensor and motion corrections from a POS-MV vertical reference were applied to the data in real time. Predicted tides were applied to the data in real time and observed tides were applied during post-processing. Horizontal accuracy is ~5m (differential GPS correctors applied), vertical accuracy is depth dependent (~1% of water depth), WGS84 datum. These data are not to be used for navigation. Depths mapped range from 10 - 200 m.

Environmental Sensitivity Index (ESI) maps are an integral component in oil-spill contingency planning and assessment. They serve as a source of information in the event of an oil spill incident. ESI maps contain three types of information: shoreline habitats (classified according to their sensitivity to oiling), sensitive biological resources, and human-use resources. Most often, this information is plotted on 7.5 minute USGS quadrangles, although in the Alaska ESI maps, USGS topographic maps at scales of 1:63,360 and 1:250,000 are used, and in other ESI maps, NOAA charts have been used as the base map. Collections of these maps, grouped by state or a logical geographic area, are published as ESI atlases. Digital data have been published for most of the U.S. shoreline, including Alaska, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico.
