Nutrients, temperature profile, waste disposal, and ocean circulation data were collected using CTD from the JOHN DEWOLF in the coastal waters of North Carolina from 22 May 1976 to 23 May 1978. Data were collected and submitted by Dr. Robert H Weisburg of North Carolina State University. The nutrients includes nitrite, phosphate, oxygen, and silicate.

During this study in-situ measurement of currents,temperature, conductivity were made on a series of tautline moorings near the base of and on the Sigsbee Escarpment. These were supplemented during six of the 24 months of measurements by three Inverted Echo Sounders with Pressure. The primary objective of this project was documentation of near bottom/lower layer dynamics which have been identified as having high current speeds over an extended lower layer water column with near bottom intensification. Observations were often jointly funded by the MMS and BP. Results showed the layer below a nominal depth of 1000 m to have vertically highly coherent motion with a weak shear profile. The dominant process affecting currents at the base of the Escarpment appear to be Topographic Rossby Waves with periods of 8-11 days which moved through the study area in trains that could continue for many months. Current speeds as high as 1.75 kts. were measured 100 m above the bottom in 2000 m water depths. [Abstract from the data originator]

This dataset contains an ESRI Grid representing the slope (in degrees) of the bathymetry of an inshore portion of the NPS's Virgin Islands Coral Reef National Monument, south of St. John, US Virgin Islands, based on a 1m bathymetric grid. NOAA's NOS/NCCOS/CCMA Biogeography Team, in collaboration with NOAA vessel Nancy Foster and territory, federal, and private sector partners, acquired multibeam bathymetry data in the US Virgin Islands from 2/1/05 to 2/12/05. Data was acquired with a pole-mounted Reson 8101 ER multibeam echosounder (240 kHz) and processed by a NOAA contractor using CARIS HIPS v5.4 software. Data has all correctors applied (attitude, sound velocity) and has been reduced to mean lower low water (MLLW) using final approved tides and zoning from NOAA COOPS. Data is in UTM zone 20 north, datum NAD83. The processed CARIS data was used to generate a CARIS BASE surface based on swath angle. An ASCII XYZ file was exported from the BASE surface and opened in ESRI ArcMap 9 as an XY event. Then the ArcToolbox conversion tool 'Feature to Raster' was used to generate an ESRI Grid of bathymetry. Finally, the Slope calculator within ArcGIS Spatial Analyst/Surface Analysis was used to calculate slope in degrees, using that ESRI Grid of source bathymetry. The project was conducted to meet IHO Order 1 and 2 accuracy standards, dependant on the project area and depth. All users should individually evaluate the suitability of this data according to their own needs and standards.

The Oregon Department of Geology & Mineral Industries (DOGAMI) contracted with Watershed Sciences, Inc. to collect high resolution topographic LiDAR data for multiple areas within the State of Oregon. The areas for LiDAR collection have been designed as part of a collaborative effort of state, federal, and local agencies in order to meet a wide range of project goals. This LiDAR data set was collected over six deliveries from September 14 through October 27, 2010 and encompasses portions of Klamath and Lake counties in Oregon. This data set consists of bare earth and unclassified points. The average pulse density is 8.61 pulses per square meter over terrestrial surfaces. The area of interest (AOI) totals 1054 square miles (674,756 acres) and the total area flown (TAF) covers 1083 square miles (692,999 acres). The TAF acreage is greater than the original AOI acreage due to buffering and flight planning optimization. This metadata record reflects all the data and cumulative statistics for the overall lidar survey. In some areas of heavy vegetation or forest cover, there may be relatively few ground points in the LiDAR data. Elevation values for open water surfaces are not valid elevation values because few LiDAR points are returned from water surfaces. LiDAR intensity values were also collected. Current meter - direction and other data were collected from FIXED PLATFORMS from 03 April 1979 to 11 July 1979. Data were collected by the National Ocean Service (NOS) in support of the MESA New York Bight (MESA-NYB) project. Data were processed by NODC to the NODC standard F005 - Current Meter Data (Resultants) format. Full format description is available from NODC at www.nodc.noaa.gov/General/NODC-Archive/f005.html. The F005 format is used for time series measurements of ocean currents obtained using moored current-measuring instruments, principally Aanderaa current meters (manufactured by Aanderaa Instruments Inc.). These data represent the Eulerian method of current measurement, i.e., the meters are deployed at a fixed mooring point and measure flow past the sensor. Position, water depth, and sensor depth are reported for each station. The data record comprises values of current direction and speed at specified date and time. Data values may be subject to averaging or filtering and are typically reported at 10-15 minute time intervals. Other environmental parameters may also be reported. These include: water temperature, salinity, conductivity, and transmissivity; wind direction and speed; and dominant wave direction, height, and period. A text field is available for optional comments.

Benthic organisms data were collected using sediment sampler and net casts from the DELAWARE II and other platforms in the New York Blight from 19 June 1957 to 20 July 1978. Data were submitted by the Virginia Institute of Marine Science with support from the MESA - New York Blight project.Data were processed by NODC to the NODC standard F132 Benthic Organism format. Full format description is available from NODC at www.nodc.noaa.gov/General/NODC-Archive/f132.html. An analog file for this accession is available from NODC user services. The F132 format contains data from field sampling or surveys of bottom dwelling marine organisms. The data provide information on species abundance, distribution, and biomass; they may have been collected by point sampling (grab or core), by tow (dredge, trawl or net), by photographic surveys, or by other methods. Cruise information such as vessel, start and end dates, investigator, and institution/agency; station numbers, positions and times; and equipment and methods are reported for each survey. Environmental data reported at each sampling site may include meteorological and sea surface conditions; surface and bottom temperature, salinity and dissolved oxygen; and sediment characteristics. Number of individual organisms and total weight of organisms is reported for each species. A text record is available for comments.
