This data set contains the following human-use resource data for Northern California: access areas, airports, aquaculture sites, beaches, boat ramps, Coast Guard areas, commercial/recreational fishing areas, essential habitats, historical sites, hoists, marinas, staging areas, subsistence areas, wash overs, and water intakes. Vector points and lines in this data set represent the human-use locations. Location-specific type and source information is stored in relational data tables (described below) designed to be used in conjunction with this spatial data layer. This data set comprises a portion of the Environmental Sensitivity Index (ESI) data for Northern California. ESI data characterize the marine and coastal environments and wildlife by their sensitivity to spilled oil. The ESI data include information for three main components: shoreline habitats, sensitive biological resources, and human-use resources. Oceanographic station, meteorological, and other data were collected from CTD casts from the ALBATROSS IV from 19 March 1974 to 21 March 1974. Data were collected by the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) as part of the Marine Resources Monitoring, Assessment and Prediction (MARMAP) project. Data were processed by NODC to the NODC standard Oceanographic Station Data (SD2) format. Full format description is available from NODC at www.nodc.noaa.gov/General/NODC-Archive/sd2.html. The Oceanographic Station Data format contains physical-chemical oceanographic data recorded at discrete depth levels. Most of the observations were made using multi-bottle Nansen casts or other types of water samplers. A small amount (about 5 percent) were obtained using electronic CTD conductivity-temperature-depth) or STD (salinity-temperature-depth) recorders. The CTD/STD data were reported to NODC at depth levels equivalent to Nansen cast data, however, and have been processed and stored the same as the Nansen data. Cruise information (e.g., ship, country, institution), position, date, and time, and reported for each station. The principal measured parameters and temperature and salinity, but dissolved oxygen, phosphate, total phosphorus, silicate, nitrate, nitrite, and pH may be reported. Meteorological conditions at the time of the cast (e.g., air temperature and pressure, wind, waves) may also be reported, as well as auxiliary data such as water color (Forel-Ule scale), water transparency (Secchi disk depth), and depth to bottom. Values of density (sigma-t), sound velocity, and dynamic depth anomaly are computed from measured parameters. Each station contains the measurements taken at the observed depth levels, but also includes data values interpolated to a set of standard depth levels.

Gridded (5 m cell size) bathymetry of the shelf and slope environments of Baker Island, Pacific Remote Isand Areas, Central Pacific. Almost complete bottom coverage was achieved in depths between 8 and 4700 meters (5 m grid includes data to 300 m). The bathymetry dataset includes Simrad EM300, EM3002D, and Reson 8101ER multibeam data collected on Jan. 30, 2006.

CRED shallow Conductivity-Temperature-Depth (CTD) casts are vertical profiles (max 30 meter depth, downcast only) of temperature, conductivity and pressure. Data are collected at select nearshore locations, both around islands or banks and within lagoons. Data processing was performed using Seabird Instrument's SeaSoft SBE Data Processing Software (http://www.seabird.com/software/SBEDataProcforWindows.htm). Data format is discreet, tabular (formatted, space delimited ASCII) files for each profile, with a full header as provided by SeaSoft. Raw file extension is HEX, processed file extension is CNV. The header contains latitude, longitude and other location information, as well as all data processing steps and settings. All dates and times are UTC. All positions are WGS84 decimal degrees. Coastal oceans are most likely to be impacted by anthropogenic activities because they are typically shallow and have more restricted water circulation than the open ocean. Kaneohe Bay served as a test site to gain insight into aspects of the carbon cycle. It is a semi-enclosed bay located on the eastern side of the island of Oahu, Hawaii and is the largest sheltered body of water in the islands. Thirteen profile stations were established and nine cruises were conducted during 2004-2009 on the R/V Kaholo. Cruises took place at various times of the year so that changes in carbon system parameters could be observed under varying conditions. Each cruise transect was 16 km long. This data set includes temperature, salinity, oxygen, pH, and other ancillary parameters.

This set of hydrographic casts are from two cruises. These cruises were part of a Department of Energy sponsored program entitled *Pollutant Transport and Sediment Dispersal in the Washington-Oregon Coastal Zone*. The program included CTD temperature, salinity, pressure and transmissivity observations. The focus of the multidisciplinary study was to investigate coastal upwelling, in particular, how along-isobath currents on a continental shelf are affected by the presence of a broad submarine canyon and quantify the distribution of productivity of phytoplankton and nutrient in the coastal zone.
