Popis

The Oregon Department of Geology & Mineral Industries (DOGAMI) contracted with Watershed Sciences, Inc. to collect high resolution topographic LiDAR data for multiple areas within the State of Oregon. The areas for LiDAR collection have been designed as part of a collaborative effort of state, federal, and local agencies in order to meet a wide range of project goals. This LiDAR data set was collected from May 19 - 20, 2011 and encompasses portions of Jefferson, Wasco, and Wheeler counties in Oregon. This data set consists of bare earth and unclassified points. The average pulse density is 8.89 pulses per square meter over terrestrial surfaces. The area of interest (AOI) encompasses 160 square miles (102,447 acres) and the total area flown (TAF) covers 163 square miles (104,631 acres). The TAF acreage is greater than the original AOI acreage due to buffering and flight planning optimization. In some areas of heavy vegetation or forest cover, there may be relatively few ground points in the LiDAR data. Elevation values for open water surfaces are not valid elevation values because few LiDAR points are returned from water surfaces. LiDAR intensity values were also collected.

Popis

Phytoplankton and zooplankton data were collected from the OSHORO MARU in the coastal North Pacific (limit-180) from 23 April 1967 to 25 April 1967. Phytoplankton were obtained from bottle casts and data include taxonomic names, taxonomic counts, and chlorophyll (a,b) concentrations. Zooplankton were obtained employing vertical net casts and data include sample depths, wet weights, and dry weights. Data were submitted by the Faculty of Fisheries/Hokkaido University as comma-delimited ascii text in an comma separated value (.csv) format. Additional funding for digitizing historic data were provided by the Global Ocean Data Archaeology and Rescue (GODAR) project.

This dataset contains a unified ESRI Grid representing the slope (in degrees) for La Parguera, P.R. and St. Croix, St. Thomas, and St. John in the US Virgin Islands, based on a 10 m bathymetric grid derived from data collected in 2004, 2005 and 2006. NOAA's NOS/NCCOS/CCMA Biogeography Team, in collaboration with NOAA vessel Nancy Foster and territory, federal, and private sector partners, acquired multibeam bathymetry data in the US Virgin Islands from 2/18/04 to 3/5/04, 2/1/05 to 2/12/05 and 3/21/06 to 4/2/06. Data was acquired with a pole-mounted Reson 8101 ER multibeam echosounder (240 kHz) in 2004 and 2005, and with a hull-mounted Kongsberg Simrad EM 1002 multibeam echosounder (95 kHz) in 2006. It was processed by a NOAA contractor using CARIS HIPS software. Data has all correctors applied (attitude, sound velocity) and has been reduced to mean lower low water (MLLW) using final approved tides and zoning from NOAA COOPS. Data is in UTM zone 20 north, datum NAD83. The processed CARIS data was used to generate a CARIS BASE surface based on swath angle. An ASCII XYZ file was exported from the BASE surface and opened in ESRI ArcMap 9.x as an XY event. Then the ArcToolbox conversion tool 'Feature to Raster' was used to generate the final ESRI Grid. The project was conducted to meet IHO Order 1 and 2 accuracy standards, dependant on the project area and depth. All users should individually evaluate the suitability of this data according to their own needs and standards.

Oceanographic station data were collected from the BOUTWELL within a 1-mile radius of Ocean Weather Station B (5630N 5100W) and in transit. Data were collected by the United States Coast Guard (USCG) from 26 June 1972 to 17 July 1972. Data were processed by NODC to the NODC standard Station Data II Output Format (SD2). Full format description is available from NODC at www.nodc.noaa.gov/General/NODC-Archive/sd2.html. The SD2 format contains physical-chemical oceanographic data recorded at discrete depth levels. Most of the observations were made using multi-bottle Nansen casts or other types of water samplers. A small amount (about 5 percent) were obtained using electronic CTD (conductivity-temperature-depth) or STD (salinity-temperature-depth) recorders. The CTD/STD data were reported to NODC at depth levels equivalent to Nansen cast data, however, and have been processed and stored the same as the Nansen data. Cruise information (e.g., ship, country, institution), position, date, and time, and reported for each station. The principal measured parameters and temperature and salinity , but dissolved oxygen, phosphate, total phosphorus, silicate, nitrate, nitrite, and pH may be reported. Meteorological conditions at the time of the cast (e.g., air temperature and pressure, wind, waves) may also be reported, as well as auxiliary data such as water color (Forel-Ule scale), water transparency (Secchi disk depth), and depth to bottom. Values of density (sigma-t) sound velocity, and dynamic depth anomaly are computed from measured parameters. Each station contains the measurements taken at the observed depth levels, but also includes data values interpolated to a set of standard depth levels.

This dataset has daily Sea Surface Salinity data from the TAO/TRITON (Pacific Ocean, http://www.pmel.noaa.gov/tao/), RAMA (Indian Ocean, http://www.pmel.noaa.gov/tao/rama/), and PIRATA (Atlantic Ocean, http://www.pmel.noaa.gov/pirata/) arrays of moored buoys which transmit oceanographic and meteorological data to shore in real-time via the Argos satellite system. These buoys are major components of the CLIVAR climate analysis project and the GOOS, GCOS, and GEOSS observing systems. This accession contains one month of geodetic data records (GDRs) from the GEOSAT Exact Repeat Mission (ERM) for the time period of October 22, 1988 to November 24, 1988. Parameters include: time, orbit, latitude/longitude, and sea surface height. Corrections to the data include: sea level, wind and wave data, tides, dry and wet troposphere, ionosphere, height bias, altimeter crossover differences, altimeter sea surface measurement, and spacecraft orientation. These data were submitted by the U.S. Navy via National Oceanic Service. The US Navy Geosat (Geodetic Satellite) radar altimeter mission lasted for nearly 5 years (March 1985 to January 1990) and collected approximately 750 million measurements of sea level, wave height, and wind speed over the global oceans. During the Geodetic Mission (March 1985 to September 1986), the satellite did not repeat its ground track for the duration of the mission. The orbit of the satellite was changed in early October 1986 to begin the Exact Repeat Mission (ERM) which lasted from November 1986 until the satellite quit functioning in January 1990. During the ERM, the satellite repeated its ground track every 17 days. Data were initially processed by the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory in Laurel, MD in coordination with the NOAA/NOS Satellite Altimeter Group. Data products were transferred to the NOAA National ceanographic Data Center (NODC) for distribution. Data products are archived at the NODC.

Cell values reflect the (surface area) / (planimetric area) ratio for the area contained within that cell's boundaries. They provide indices of topographic roughness & convolutedness.
