Popis

Temperature profiles were collected from XBT casts from the DELTA NORTE from 03 November 1979 to 11 December 1979. Data were collected by the Delta Steamship Co. as part of the Marine Resources Monitoring, Assessment and Prediction (MARMAP) project. Data were processed by NODC to the NODC standard Universal Bathythermograph Output (UBT) format. Full format description is available from NODC at www.nodc.noaa.gov/General/NODC-Archive/bt.html. The UBT format contains temperature-depth profile data obtained using expendable bathythermograph (XBT) instruments. Cruise information, position, date and time were reported for each observation. The data records are comprised of pairs of temperature-depth values. The XBT data files contain temperature values at non-uniform depths. These depths were recorded at the minimum number of points (''''inflection points'''') required to accurately define the temperature curve. Standard XBTs can obtain profiles to depths of either 450 or 760 m. Special instruments permitted measurements to be obtained to 1830 m.

XBT data were collected from the USCGC DALLAS in support of the Integrated Global Ocean Services System (IGOSS) project. Data were collected by the US Coast Guard from 06 March 1974 to 09 March 1974. Data were processed by NODC to the NODC standard Universal Bathythermograph Output (UBT) format. Full format description is available from NODC at www.nodc.noaa.gov/General/NODC-Archive/bt.html. The UBT file format is used for temperature-depth profile data obtained using expendable bathythermograph (XBT) instruments. Standard XBTs can obtain profiles at depths of about 450 or 760 m. With special instruments, measurements can be obtained to 1830 m. Cruise information, position, date, and time are reported for each observation. The data record comprises pairs of temperature-depth values. Unlike the MBT data file, in which temperature values are recorded at uniform 5m intervals, the XBT Data File contains temperature values at non-uniform depths. These depths are at a minimum number of points ("inflection points") required to record the temperature curve to an acceptable degree of accuracy. On output, however, the user may request temperature values either at inflection points or interpolated to uniform depth increments.

Remote Sensing Inc. distributes science quality wind velocity data from the SeaWinds instrument onboard NASA's QuikSCAT satellite. SeaWinds is a microwave scatterometer designed to measure surface winds over the global ocean. Wind velocity fields are provided in zonal, meridional, and modulus sets. The reference height for all wind velocities is 10 meters.

These data were collected by the National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration National Geodetic Survey Remote Sensing Division using an OPTECH ALTM system. The data includes topographic data in an LAS format file. The data was collected 31 July - 1 August 2008 on the Kenai Peninsula of Alaska. It has been processed to bare earth using only an automated routine - additional manual editing is required for localized use. The data covers portions of the Outer and Inner Kachemak Bay coastline from Point Anchor to Homer and along the coast into the head of the bay. The data falls in the Kachemak Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve and includes the Fox River Flats Critical Habitat Areas.

Popis

Physical oceanographic data were collected from the NOAA Ship THOMAS JEFFERSON in the NW Atlantic from 04 October 2006 to 05 November 2007. Data were collected from CTD and sound velocimeter casts. Temperature and salinity profiles were collected from the CTD casts. Sound velocity profiles were collected from the sound velocimeter casts. Data are self documenting and are in plain ASCII text.

Popis

Current and other data were collected from meters attached to fixed platforms in the Beaufort Sea by the University of Alaska, Fairbanks (UAF). Data were collected as part of the Outer Continental Shelf Environmental Assessment Program (OCSEAP) from 08 August 1977 to 01 September 1977. Data were processed by NODC to the NODC standard F015 Current Meter Components format. Full format description is available from NODC at www.nodc.noaa.gov/General/NODC-Archive/f015.html. An analog file for this accession is available from NODC user services. The F015 format contains time series measurements of ocean currents. These data are obtained from current meter moorings and represent the Eulerian method of current measurement, i.e., the meters are deployed at a fixed point and measure flow past a sensor. Position, bottom depth, sensor depth and meter characteristics are reported for each station. The data record includes values of east-west (u) and north-south (v) current vector components at specified date and time. Current direction is defined as the direction toward which the water is flowing with positive directions east and north. Data values may be subject to averaging or filtering and are typically reported at 10 - 15 minute time intervals. Water temperature, pressure and conductivity or salinity may also be reported. A text record is available for optional comments.

This data set is an LAZ (compressed LAS) format file containing LIDAR point cloud data. The NAD83/2011 geodetic products were delivered as individual LAS files representing the geographic extent of each uniquely identified and acquired flight line or lift. USACE regularly uses digital topographic information to support regulatory, land management and acquisition, planning, engineering and habitat restoration projects. The data were classified into 4 classifications; (1) unclassified, (2) ground, (9) water,and (12) overlap points. The full study area of approximately 404 square km was processed. The tiles are 1,000 x 1,000m in size and Final deliverables were provided as geographic coordinates referenced to the North American Datum of 1983/2011 Realization (NAD83/2011) and as projected coordinates referenced to the State Plane Coordinate System, Puerto Rico Virgin Islands FIPS Zone 5200, NAD83/2011, vertical PRVD02 orthometric height. Upon arrival to NOAA's Office for Coastal Management the data were converted from State Plane to geographic and from NAVD88 (orthometric) heights in feet to GRS80 (ellipsoid) heights in meters using Geoid 12a. Original project title was "2013 Greater San Juan, Puerto Nuevo, Rio de la Plata".

This data set contains ortho-rectified mosaic tiles, created as a product from the NOAA Integrated Ocean and Coastal Mapping (IOCM) initiative. The source imagery was acquired from 20100313 - 20100315. The images were acquired with an Applanix Digital Sensor System (DSS). The original images were acquired at a higher resolution than the final ortho-rectified mosaic. Ortho-rectified mosaic tiles are an ancillary product of NOAA's Coastal Mapping Program (CMP), created through a wider Integrated Ocean and Coastal Mapping initiative to increase support for multiple uses of the data. The ground sample distance (GSD) for each pixel is 0.50 m. Data are in .tif format with associated .his and .jpg browse graphic files. Matching true color (RGB) imagery for these data are archived at the NODC under accession number 0103945.

MBT data were collected from the USS JACANA in support of the Fleet Observations of Oceanographic Data (FLOOD) project. Data were collected by US Navy; Ships of Opportunity from 28 April 1962 to 03 May 1962. The platform was equipped and staffed to observe weather and sea conditions. Data were processed by NODC to the NODC standard Universal Bathythermograph Output (UBT) format. Full format description is available from NODC at www.nodc.noaa.gov/General/NODC-Archive/bt.html. The UBT file format is used for temperature-depth profile data obtained using the mechanical bathythermograph (MBT) instrument. The maximum depth of MBT observations is approximately 285 m. Therefore, MBT data are useful only in studying the thermal structure of the upper layers of the ocean. Cruise information, date, position, and time are reported for each observation. The data record comprises pairs of temperature-depth values. Temperature data in this file are recorded at uniform 5 m depth intervals.

NODC accession 0104296 includes chemical, optical, physical and underway data collected aboard the HEALY during cruise HLY1101 in the Arctic Ocean, Beaufort Sea and others from 2011-06-25 to 2011-07-29. These data include Attenuation/Transmission, CONDUCTIVITY, CURRENT SPEED - EAST/WEST COMPONENT (U), CURRENT SPEED - NORTH/SOUTH COMPONENT (V), DEPTH - BOTTOM, DEPTH - OBSERVATION, DISSOLVED OXYGEN, HYDROSTATIC PRESSURE, SALINITY, WATER TEMPERATURE and surface irradiance. The instruments used to collect these data include ADCP, CTD, GPS, PAR Sensor, echo sounder, oxygen meter and transmissometer. These data were collected by Kevin Arrigo of Stanford University, and by United States Coast Guard as part of Impacts of Climate change on the Eco-Systems and Chemistry of the Arctic Pacific Environment (ICESCAPE). The Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory (LDEO) submitted these data to NODC as part of the NSF sponsored Rolling Deck to Repository (R2R) program. The CTD data submitted by the originator represent the raw data suite. Processed versions of the data were generated by NODC. The ADCP data represent the raw and automated processed data set. Post processed quality assessed data are not available in this accession.
