The spring 2007 LiDAR Flight Acquisition required the collection of approximately 526 square miles of Niagara County and approximately 30 square miles of the corridors of Erie County. Total, approximately 555 square miles were collected at a nominal point spacing of 1.4 meters and based on the Sanborn FEMA compliant LiDAR product specification. The lidar data was collected from Jan 3 2007-May 9 2007. Multiple returns were recorded for each laser pulse along with an intensity value for each return. The lidar points in this data set are the last return data, it is not a bare earth data set and the points have not been classified. LIDAR data is remotely sensed high-resolution elevation data collected by an airborne collection platform. Using a combination of laser range finding, GPS positioning and inertial measurement technologies; LIDAR instruments are able to make highly detailed Digital Elevation Models (DEM) of the earth's terrain, man-made structures and vegetation. This data was collected at a resolution to aid in coastal management decisions including flood plain analysis and mapping.

The Integrated Science Data Management (ISDM) office processes oceanographic profiles reported for the world oceans in near real-time from the Global Telecommunications System (GTS) for the Global Temperature and Salinity Profile Program (GTSPP). These data also support the activities of the Ship of Opportunity Programme Implementation Panel (SOOPIP)and the WOCE Upper Ocean Thermal Program (WOCE UOT). The ISDM sends a copy of these data to the US NODC three times each week.

Bathythermograph data were collected from the INGHAM within a 1-mile radius of Ocean Weather Station E (3500N 04800W) and in transit. Data were collected by the United States Coast Guard from 05 May 1962 to 07 June 1962. The platform was equipped and staffed to observe weather and sea conditions. Data were processed by NODC to the NODC standard Universal Bathythermograph Output (UBT) format. Full format description is available from NODC at www.nodc.noaa.gov/General/NODC-Archive/bt.html. The UBT file format is used for temperature-depth profile data obtained using the mechanical bathythermograph (MBT) instrument. The maximum depth of MBT observations is approximately 285 m. Therefore, MBT data are useful only in studying the thermal structure of the upper layers of the ocean. Cruise information, date, position, and time are reported for each observation. The data record comprises pairs of temperature-depth values. Temperature data in this file are recorded at uniform 5 m depth intervals.

This image represents an 8 meter resolution bathymetry of the seafloor south of Santa Rosa Island in Channel Islands National Marine Sanctuary. It was acquired using the ME70 multibeam sonar system onboard the NOAA ship Bell M. Shimada in March of 2015. Data is in UTM zone 10 north, datum WGS84. All users should individually evaluate the suitability of this data according to their own needs and standards.

These data represent data collected from the Shipboard Environmental (data) Acquisition System (SEAS), a program developed by National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to provide accurate meteorological and oceanographic data in real time from ships at sea through the use of satellite data transmission techniques. The system transmits data through either the Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite (GOES) or the International Maritime Satellite Organization (INMARSAT C) satellites to NOAA for use in weather, climatological and ocean models. NOAA is actively participating in an international effort to increase the number of subsurface temperature observations in support of global oceanographic and climate studies. NOAA's Expendable Bathythermograph (XBT) program, SEAS, currently supports about 80 Voluntary Observing Ships (VOS). SEAS XBT data are archived by the National Oceanographic Data Center (NODC) on a weekly basis.
