Current, pressure gauge, and other data were collected from instruments attached to fixed platforms in the Bering Sea from the 16 September 1977 to 20 September 1978. Data were collected by the University of Washington (UW) as part of the Outer Continental Shelf Environmental Assessment Program (OCSEAP). Data were processed by NODC to the NODC standard F015 Current Meter Components and the F017 Pressure Gauge Data formats. Full format descriptions are available from NODC at www.nodc.noaa.gov/. An analog file for this accession is available from NODC user services. The F015 format contains time series measurements of ocean currents. These data are obtained from current meter moorings and represent the Eulerian method of current measurement, i.e., the meters are deployed at a fixed point and measure flow past a sensor. Position, bottom depth, sensor depth and meter characteristics are reported for each station. The data record includes values of east-west (u) and north-south (v) current vector components at specified date and time. Current direction is defined as the direction toward which the water is flowing with positive directions east and north. Data values may be subject to averaging or filtering and are typically reported at 10 - 15 minute time intervals. Water temperature, pressure and conductivity or salinity may also be reported. A text record is available for optional comments. The F017 format contains time series measurements of seawater pressure from anchored or bottom-mounted sensors. Measurements of variations at depth of seawater pressure provide information on tidal and storm flows, ocean circulation, and other phenomena that cause changes in sea surface elevation or slope and that can be detected from their pressure signature. Position, bottom depth, and gauge depth are reported for each station. The data record comprises values of total pressure at specified date and time. Data values may be subject to averaging or filtering and are typically reported at time intervals of 10-15 minutes. Seawater temperature may also be reported. Comments may be reported in a text record.

Temperature profiles were collected from XBT casts from the AMERICAN ARGO and other platforms from 14 December 1979 to 22 January 1980. Data were collected by Moore-McCormack Lines Inc. and other institutions as part of the Marine Resources Monitoring, Assessment and Prediction (MARMAP) project. Data were processed by NODC to the NODC standard Universal Bathythermograph Output (UBT) format. Full format description is available from NODC at www.nodc.noaa.gov/General/NODC-Archive/bt.html. The UBT format contains temperature-depth profile data obtained using expendable bathythermograph (XBT) instruments. Cruise information, position, date and time were reported for each observation. The data records are comprised of pairs of temperature-depth values. The XBT data files contain temperature values at non-uniform depths. These depths were recorded at the minimum number of points (''''inflection points'''') required to accurately define the temperature curve. Standard XBTs can obtain profiles to depths of either 450 or 760 m. Special instruments permitted measurements to be obtained to 1830 m.

Mussel Watch represents the longest running continuous contaminant monitoring program in U.S. coastal and Great Lakes waters and was created in response to concerns over environmental quality of the Nation's coastal and estuarine ecosystems. This project analyzes chemical and biological contaminant trends in sediment and bivalve tissue collected at over 280 coastal sites from 1986 to present. Parameters monitored include sediment and bivalve tissue chemistry for over 100 organic and inorganic contaminants; bivalve histology; and Clostridium perfringens (pathogen) concentrations. This project regularly quantifies PAHs, PCBs, chlorinated pesticides including DDT and its metabolites, TBT and its metabolites, and trace elements.

Fish Pathology and other data were collected from the NOAA Ship MILLER FREEMAN and other platforms from 02 September 1976 to 27 August 1978. Data were collected by the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) as part of the Outer Continental Shelf Environmental Assessment Program (OCSEAP). Data were processed by NODC to the NODC standard F013 Fish Pathology format. Full format description is available from NODC at www.nodc.noaa.gov/. An analog file for this accession is available from NODC user services. F013 data set contains data from examinations of diseased fishes. Although these data may be from field observations, they derive primarily from laboratory analyses. Data include: location, and fishing duration, distance, and gear; catch statistics (e.g., total weight, number of individuals, age group, identity of diseases, and number of diseased individuals) by species for any number of species; and biological condition of selected specimens. The size, affected organ, location, and frequency of lesions may be reported for individual specimens. Specimens are identified with the NODC Taxonomic Code. These data may be characteristics of individual lesions or average lesion statistics.

The U.S. National Oceanographic Data Center (NODC) operates the Global Argo Data Repository (GADR) as the long-term archive for the International Global Argo Project (for additional information about Argo, see http://www.argo.ucsd.edu/ (last accessed May 2007)). Argo data archived by the US NODC on a weekly basis starting the second quarter of FY 2003, may include real-time and/or delayed-mode profiles of ocean temperature and salinity, as well as related conductivity and/or pressure measurements (if any), collected by Argo profiling floats.

EM300 and EM3002D multibeam Data were collected from 4-23 April aboard NOAA Ship Hi'ialakai at Necker and Nihoa Islands, French Frigate Shoals, and Brooks Bank in the Northwestern Hawaiian Islands during cruise HI-05-01. These multibeam data were collected using SAIC ISS-2000 software in the Generic Sensor Format and processed using SABER editing software. Surface sound velocity values were supplied by a Seabird SBE-45 MicroTSG and a SBE-38 remote temperature probe. Sound velocity corrections from a Seabird 911 CTD sensor and motion corrections from a POS-MV vertical reference were applied to the data in real time. Predicted tides were applied to the data in real time. Horizontal accuracy is 20 m (no differential GPS correctors applied), vertical accuracy is depth dependent (~1% of water depth), WGS84 datum. These data are not to be used for navigation. Depths mapped range from ~20-3000 m. Concurrent mapping at French Frigate Shoals was done by the R/V AHI in water depths ranging from ~10-100 m with the data set being AHI-05-01; metadata for AHI-05-01 are submitted separately.

As part of Rapid Ecological Assessments (REA), Twelve quadrats were sampled along 2 consecutively-placed, 25m transect lines, conducted at 3 sites at Asuncion Island in the Marianas Archipelago from 3 September - 1 October 2005, aboard the NOAA ship Oscar Elton Sette, during the Reef Assessment and Monitoring Program (RAMP) Cruise OES0511. Raw survey data included genus presence and relative abundance, and voucher specimens. Detailed taxonomic analyses of voucher specimens are presented.

This data set contains field and genetic identification of rougheye (Sebastes aleutianus) and blackspotted (Sebastes melanostictus) rockfish collected during AFSC bottom trawl surveys. There is considerable difficulty in correctly distinquishing between these species of rockfish in the field. The database contains the field identification of each specimen, genetic identification (true species identification) along with biological information for each specimen including weight, length, and age. Also included is the location and water depth where each specimen was collected.

This dataset contains a comma-delimited ASCII XYZ text file with easting, northing, and depth in meters values for the bathymetry of the north shore of St. Croix, US Virgin Islands. XYZ values are derived from a 3 m resolution gridding process. NOAA's NOS/NCCOS/CCMA Biogeography Team, in collaboration with NOAA vessel Nancy Foster and territory, federal, and private sector partners, acquired multibeam bathymetry data in the US Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico from 3/21/06 to 4/2/06. Data was acquired with a hull-mounted Kongsberg Simrad EM 1002 multibeam echosounder (95 kHz) and processed by a NOAA contractor using CARIS HIPS software. Data has all correctors applied (attitude, sound velocity) and has been reduced to mean lower low water (MLLW) using final approved tides and zoning from NOAA COOPS. Data is in UTM zone 20 north, datum NAD83. The processed CARIS data was used to generate a CARIS BASE surface based on swath angle, and was exported as an ASCII XYZ file. The project was conducted to meet IHO Order 1 and 2 accuracy standards, dependant on the project area and depth. All users should individually evaluate the suitability of this data according to their own needs and standards.
