Popis

The Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) LAS dataset is a survey of select areas within Southwest Florida. These data were produced for the Southwest Florida Water Management District (SWFWMD). Two SWFWMD datasets are included in this metadata record; they are Peace River South and Carter Creek. The Carter Creek portion of this data is a small data set in the northwestern part of Highlands County, which has been appended to the larger data set of Peace River South for ease of use within the NOAA Office for Coastal Management (OCM) Lidar Data Retrieval Tool (LDART). Information that is specific to each data set has been maintained. PEACE RIVER SOUTH The Peace River South LiDAR (P692)Survey project area consists of approximately 1,801 square miles and covers Hardee and DeSoto Counties and portions of Highlands and Charlotte Counties. The LiDAR point cloud was flown at a density sufficient to support a maximum final post spacing of 6 feet for unobscured areas. 3001 inc. acquired 445 flightlines between February 11, 2005 and April 14, 2005. The data was divided into 5000' by 5000' foot cells that serve as the tiling scheme. The Peace River South LiDAR Survey was collected under the guidance of a Professional Mapper/Surveyor. CARTER CREEK The Carter Creek LiDAR Survey project area consists of approximately 26 square miles and is located in northwestern Highlands County. The LiDAR point cloud was flown at a density sufficient to support a maximum final post spacing of 4 feet for unobscured areas. 3001 Inc. acquired 60 flightlines between February 6, 2006 and February 7, 2006. The data was divided into 5000' by 5000' foot cells that serve as the tiling scheme. The Carter Creek LiDAR Survey was collected under the guidance of a Professional Mapper/Surveyor.

Popis

Water physics and chemistry data were collected from bottle casts from the GERDA from 20 July 1955 to 29 May 1957. Data were collected as part of the Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science (RSMAS) project. Data were processed by NODC to the NODC standard F004 Water Physics and Chemistry format. Full format description is available from NODC at www.nodc.noaa.gov/General/NODC-Archive/f004.html. The F004 format is used for data from measurements and analyses of physical and chemical characteristics of the water column. Among chemical parameters that may be recorded are salinity, PH, and concentration of oxygen, ammonia, nitrate, phosphate, chlorophyll, and suspended solids. Physical parameters that may be recorded include temperature, density (sigma-t), transmissivity, and current velocity (east-west and north-south components). Cruise and station information, including environmental conditions of the study site at the time of observations, is also included.

The data sets are the downloads of the shipboard computers after an individual cruise. As such, they contain basic raw and processed physical and meteorological data from the cruise. A data set may include XBT, CTD, and XCTD profiles, underway thermosalinograph and atmospheric measurements, gravity and magnetic field measurements, current measurements from ADCP, and still photographs from the Alvin submersible (Atlantis cruises only). Other data types (ROV, nutrients measured from bottle samples, etc.) and photographs documenting the cruise may be included.

The project area is composed of 16 counties in the State of South Carolina - Cherokee, Union, Laurens, Greenwood, Newberry, Chester, Fairfield, Lancaster, Chesterfield, Marlboro, Darlington, Dillon, Marion, Williamsburg, Clarendon, and Orangeburg. The project area consists of approximately 10,194 square miles including a buffer of 50 feet along the edges of the project area and an additional buffer in some areas. The project design of the lidar data acquisition was developed to support a nominal post spacing of 1.4 meters. The Fugro EarthData, Inc. acquisition team of Fugro Horizons, Inc. and North West Group acquired 721 flight lines in 44 lifts from January 15, 2008 through February 10, 2008. The data was divided into 5000' by 5000' foot cells that serve as the tiling scheme. Lidar data collection was performed with a Cessna 310 aircraft, utilizing a Leica ALS50-II MPiA sensor, collecting multiple return x, y, and z data as well as intensity data. Lidar data was processed to achieve a bare ground surface (Classes 2 and 8). Lidar data is remotely sensed high-resolution elevation data collected by an airborne collection platform. Using a combination of laser range finding, GPS positioning and inertial measurement technologies, lidar instruments are able to make highly detailed Digital Elevation Models (DEMs) of the earth's terrain, man-made structures, and vegetation.

Popis

The Knudsen 2620 acquired sub-bottom profiles continuously throughout the cruise. The Knudsen was operated in 3.5 kHz Chirp mode, emitting a 1.5 kHz to 5 kHz (3 kHz bandwidth centered on 3.5 kHz) pulse from transducers mounted in the pod beneath the hull. A record window of 100 or 200 meters and assumed sound velocity of 1500 m/s remained constant through the cruise, except for areas where topographic variation dictated a >200meter record window. The resulting data records were 131 or 261 msec long, with a sample interval 0.038 msec. The ping rate varied over the course of the cruise, generally between 4 and 6 seconds.

This project was undertaken in order to gain an overview of the present plans, projects and information base for Delaware Bay with a view to planning and possible future regulation by the Delaware River Basin Commission. It was carried out by the University of Delaware under contract to the Basin Commission with Sea Grant funding matched with a baseline study planning grant from the National Geographic Society. The geographic area covered by the the study is Delaware Bay and its immediate environs. Delaware Bay is taken to be the water area bounded by New Jersey and Delaware and extending from a line between Capes Henlopen and May up to Liston Point. Of necessity, the report also concerns itself with the contiguous shore areas and other areas exerting, or likely to exert, a major influence on the bay. The study was divided into two major portions: a sociopolitical one, and an engineering and scientific one. The sociopolitical portion of the study was subcontracted to the Natural ad Historical Resource Associates, who were given access to relevant portions of the unpublished report of the Delaware Governor's Task Force in Coastal and Marine Affairs as well as certain supporting materials. These materials had been prepared by Sate and University of Delaware personnel in response to requests by the Task Force

These data represent data collected from the Shipboard Environmental (data) Acquisition System (SEAS), a program developed by National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to provide accurate meteorological and oceanographic data in real time from ships at sea through the use of satellite data transmission techniques. The system transmits data through either the Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite (GOES) or the International Maritime Satellite Organization (INMARSAT C) satellites to NOAA for use in weather, climatological and ocean models. NOAA is actively participating in an international effort to increase the number of subsurface temperature observations in support of global oceanographic and climate studies. NOAA's Expendable Bathythermograph (XBT) program, SEAS, currently supports about 80 Voluntary Observing Ships (VOS). SEAS XBT data are archived by the National Oceanographic Data Center (NODC) on a weekly basis.

NODC Accession 0117060 includes chemical, physical and time series data collected from MOORINGS in the North Atlantic Ocean from 2010-12-05 to 2013-03-15 and retrieved during cruise HogR20101205 and HogR20120229. These data include AIR-SEA DIFFERENCE - PARTIAL PRESSURE (OR FUGACITY) OF CARBON DIOXIDE, OXYGEN - PERCENT SATURATION, Partial pressure (or fugacity) of carbon dioxide - atmosphere, Partial pressure (or fugacity) of carbon dioxide - water, SALINITY and SEA SURFACE TEMPERATURE. The instruments used to collect these data include Bubble type equilibrator for autonomous carbon dioxide (CO2) measurement and Carbon dioxide (CO2) gas analyzer. These data were collected by Nicholas Bates of Bermuda Biological Station for Research, Andreas Andersson of Scripps Institution of Oceanography and Adrienne Sutton, Christopher Sabine and Jeremy Mathis of US DOC; NOAA; OAR; Pacific Marine Environmental Laboratory as part of the Mooring_Hog_Reef_64W_32N_Dec2010_Jan2012 and Mooring_Hog_Reef_64W_32N_Feb2012_Mar2013 data set. The Global CO2 Time-series and Moorings Project involves international groups from 18 countries who have mounted sensors on moored buoys to provide high resolution time-series measurements of atmospheric boundary layer and surface ocean CO2 partial pressure (pCO2). The CO2 Time-series and Moorings Project is coordinated by UNESCO International Ocean Carbon Coordination Project (IOCCP).

This data set contains sensitive biological resource data for submerged aquatic vegetation (SAV) and rare plants in Alabama. Vector polygons in this data set represent SAV and rare plant distribution. Species-specific abundance, seasonality, status, life history, and source information are stored in relational data tables (described below) designed to be used in conjunction with this spatial data layer.This data set comprises a portion of the Environmental Sensitivity Index (ESI) data for Alabama. ESI data characterize the marine and coastal environments and wildlife by their sensitivity to spilled oil. The ESI data include information for three main components: shoreline habitats, sensitive biological resources, and human-use resources.
