Ship track of the R/V Seward Johnson during the "Life on the Edge 2004" expedition sponsored by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Office of Ocean Exploration, June 8 through 22, 2004. This track was based on the hourly ship's position from the Virtual Instrument Data System (VIDS) provided by the University of Miami Marine Technology Group at Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institution.

This data set consists of six-inch pixel resolution, natural color orthoimages covering the urban area footprint. An orthoimage is remotely sensed image data in which displacement of features in the image caused by terrain relief and sensor orientation have been mathematically removed. Orthoimagery combines the image characteristics of a photograph with the geometric qualities of a map. Each orthoimage provides imagery over a 5000-foot by 5000-foot block on the ground. There is no image overlap between adjacent files. The projected coordinate system is Georgia State Plane West (FIPS 1002) feet with a NAD83 datum.

XBT data were collected from the NOAA Ship OCEANOGRAPHER in support of the Integrated Global Ocean Services System (IGOSS) project. Data were collected by the National Ocean Service (NOS) from 06 May 1974 to 11 May 1974. Data were processed by NODC to the NODC standard Universal Bathythermograph Output (UBT) format. Full format description is available from NODC at www.nodc.noaa.gov/General/NODC-Archive/bt.html. The UBT file format is used for temperature-depth profile data obtained using expendable bathythermograph (XBT) instruments. Standard XBTs can obtain profiles at depths of about 450 or 760 m. With special instruments, measurements can be obtained to 1830 m. Cruise information, position, date, and time are reported for each observation. The data record comprises pairs of temperature-depth values. Unlike the MBT data file, in which temperature values are recorded at uniform 5m intervals, the XBT Data File contains temperature values at non-uniform depths. These depths are at a minimum number of points ("inflection points") required to record the temperature curve to an acceptable degree of accuracy. On output, however, the user may request temperature values either at inflection points or interpolated to uniform depth increments.

Bathythermograph data were collected from the INGHAM within a 1-mile radius of Ocean Weather Station H (3800N 07100W) and in transit. Data were collected by the United States Coast Guard from 11 March 1974 to 26 March 1974. The platform was equipped and staffed to observe weather and sea conditions. NODC Accession 0083685 includes chemical, discrete bottle, physical, profile data collected aboard the WECOMA in North Pacific Ocean, Olympic Coast National Marine Sanctuary, West Coast - US/Canada from 20070514 to 20070612 and retrieved during cruise 32WC20070511. These data include ALKALINITY, DISSOLVED INORGANIC CARBON, DISSOLVED OXYGEN, NITRATE, NITRITE, OXYGEN - APPARENT UTILIZATION (AOU), PHOSPHATE, SALINITY, SILICATE, and TEMPERATURE. The instruments used to collect these data include CTD, and bottle. These data were collected by Richard A Feely and Christopher Sabine of Pacific Marine Environmental Laboratory as part of North American Carbon Program.

Data were submitted by Scripps Institution of Oceanography as part of the Thermal Structure Monitoring Program in the Pacific (TRANSPAC) project. A set of 9 CD-ROMs were produced to accompany the analog publication Atlas of Surface Marine Data, 1994. Each CD-ROM contains monthly mean objectively analyzed climatologies and monthly mean anomalies covering the period 1945-1989. In addition, a number of observations, standard deviation, and interannual standard deviation files are included. Data is stored in binary files using Unidata's Network Common Data Format (NetCDF). Free software and subroutines to read the data and testing programs are included on the CD-ROM discs. Additional information about this NODC Standard Product is available at http://www.nodc.noaa.gov/OC5/ASMD94/pr_asmd.html. Copies of these discs are currently available via the NODC Online Store at http://ols.nndc.noaa.gov/plolstore/plsql/olstore.prodspecific?prodnum=W00002-CDR-S0001. Software that was developed or provided with this NODC Standard Product may be included in the disc_image/ directory as part of the disc image, but all software that was developed or provided with this NODC Standard Product has been excluded from the disc_contents/ directory.

This report pertains to a Specific Purpose Lidar Survey of Wakulla County, Florida, conducted in the summer of 2007 for the Florida Division of Emergency Management (FDEM). The Lidar dataset was prepared by the Program and Data Solutions (PDS) team under FDEM contract 07-HS-34-14-00-22-469, Task Order 20070525-492718a (PDS Task Order B). The Lidar dataset of Wakulla County was acquired by Terrapoint USA in the summer of 2007. The Lidar dataset was delivered as a point cloud in LAS 1.1 format.

The Integrated Science Data Management (ISDM) office processes oceanographic profiles reported for the world oceans in near real-time from the Global Telecommunications System (GTS) for the Global Temperature and Salinity Profile Program (GTSPP). These data also support the activities of the Ship-of-Opportunity Programme Implementation Panel (SOOPIP) and the WOCE Upper Ocean Thermal Program (WOCE UOT).

NOAA's National Geophysical Data Center (NGDC) is building high-resolution digital elevation models (DEMs) for select U.S. coastal regions. These integrated bathymetric-topographic DEMs are used to support individual coastal States as part of the National Tsunami Hazard Mitigation Program's (NTHMP) efforts to improve community preparedness and hazard mitigation. Bathymetric, topographic, and shoreline data used in DEM compilation are obtained from various sources including: NGDC; the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS); Naval Oceanographic Office (NAVOCEANO); NOAA's Coastal Service Center; and other federal, state, and local government agencies, academic institutions, and private companies. DEMs are referenced to the vertical tidal datum of Mean High Water (MHW) and horizontal datum of World Geodetic System 1984 geographic (WGS 84). Grid spacing for the DEM is 1/3 arc-second (~10 meters).

LIDAR-derived binary (.las) files containing points classified as: Unclassified (1), Ground (2) and Water (9) were produced for the 2010 Northwest Florida Water Management District - 2 Counties (Calhoun and Liberty), Florida LIDAR mapping project. The data were collected March 30 - April 1, 2010 and the total mapping area covers approximately 585 square miles in Liberty County and 2.65 square miles in Calhoun County.

To support NOAA Coral Reef Conservation Program (CRCP) long-term goals for sustainable management and conservation of coral reef ecosystems, towed-diver surveys (aka. towboard surveys) were conducted by the Coral Reef Ecosystem Division (CRED) of the NOAA Pacific Islands Fisheries Science Center (PIFSC) as part of biennial Pacific Reef Assessment and Monitoring Program (RAMP) Cruises. 6 towboard surveys (12.6351 km in length), were conducted at Baker Island during the Pacific Remote Island Areas RAMP Cruise HI0801 from 24 January - 14 February 2008. Towboard surveys are a good method for obtaining a general description of large reef areas, assessing the status of low-density populations of large-bodied reef fish, large-scale disturbances (e.g., bleaching), general distribution and abundance patterns of macro-invertebrates (e.g., COT, giant clams), and for assessing trends in these populations and metrics. A pair of scuba divers (1 fish and 1 benthic diver) are towed 60 m behind a small survey launch at a speed of 1-2 knots and a depth of approximately 15m. Each survey is 50 min long, covers about 2 km of habitat, and is divided into ten 5-minute survey segments. The fish diver records, to the lowest possible taxon, all large-bodied reef fishes (>50cmTL) seen within 5m either side and 10m in front of the towboard. Length of each individual is estimated to the nearest cm. The fish towboard is also outfitted with a forward-facing digital video camera to record the survey swath. The benthic diver records percent cover of coral and macroalgae, estimates benthic habitat type and complexity, and censuses a suite of benthic macroinvertebrates including Crown of Thorns sea stars and sea urchins. The benthic towboard is equipped with a downward-facing digital still camera which images the benthos at 15 second intervals. These images are analyzed for percent cover of coral, algae, and other benthic components. Both towboards are equipped with SEABIRD SBE-39 temperature/depth sensors set to record at 5 second intervals. Latitude and longitude of each survey track is recorded at 15 second intervals using a Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver onboard the tow boat. A layback algorithm is applied to more accurately map the position of the divers with respect to the reef environment. This algorithm calculates the position of the divers based on the position of the tow boat taking into account the length of the tow rope, the depth of the divers, and the curvature of the survey track. This metadata applies to the benthic characterization observations.
